STANDON CALLING 09

DateSaturday, August 8

Yes, three days in a field... Bad.

Three days in a field, with the Band.it crew... Slightly less bad.

Three days in a field, with the band.it crew, lots of whiskey, 3 stages of bands and a great DJ line up…. fucking excellent.

Standon Calling isn’t a big name festival drawing massive crowds (only a few thousand people), and this is probably what makes it so special. When you hear however that at least 5 of your favourite bands are playing this secluded little weekend, it becomes pretty special.

We are back from Standon Calling and feeling slightly worse for wear. Educated and exhausted. The music was excellent and the partying was excessive. Going with the space theme this year their where quite a few crazy outfits. The winner was a girl in spandex. There were some pretty mental costumes competing including a man built into a computer. To be honest, I feel the winner may have won because she was hot! But hey, you see a lot of that. There was a much better dance line up this year with some really excellent sets by Greg Wilson and 65 Days Of Static (smashing out Parisian Electro which was a surprise considering they are a prog rock band).

The Band.it team made it a mission to get hold of bands that they liked, sit them down, and have a chat. No firing of dull questions, no Dictaphones in the face, just an I-phone on the floor and a metaphorical cup of tea… perhaps a few digestives. In this style we ‘guerilla’ interviewed everyone we wanted, with the exception of Josh weller, who managed to slip his enormous hair back to his Greenwich home somehow unnoticed by us, sneaky bastard.

Too see the full line up at Standon this year, we refer you to our first post on the festival –here.

Without further adieu here is a low down of our favourite acts at Standon with some foxy little interviews ta boooot! Shizzle…
