The Rumble Strips - Welcome to the Walk Alone

DateWednesday, July 29

The Rumble Strips quickly established themselves as one of England's favorite bands with the release of their debut 'Girls and Weather' in 2007, and tracks such as 'Girls and Boys in Love' and 'Motorcycle' stood out in the summer playlists of most music lovers. However, the second ablum 'Welcome to the Walk Alone', even almost a month after it's release, seems not to have been heard! Whether the label simply chose not to advertise it, relying on the bands following to seek out the album, or rather were under-funded and couldn't, we can only guess.

The album is great, however nothing on the last. The tracks which stand out (Daniel, Dem Girls, and Sweet Heart Hooligan) are entertaining and even exactly what the Rumble Strips are all about; upbeat, quirky and catchy, but disappointingly, in comparison to previous singles, they certainly lack memorability.

While great additions to their live set, the new songs do little to progress the band's reputation, and this even perhaps justifies the lack of advertising the album was given.
